Fully framed shower doors are the traditional builder-grade option with metal around every edge. Most people do not notice it until they compare it to low-iron glass.
Low-iron glass (sometimes called ultra-clear or starphire) has the iron removed during manufacturing, which eliminates the green tint and gives the glass a completely colorless, crystal-clear appearance. It is the best choice for showers with white tile or light-colored grout where you want the glass to look as transparent as possible. Low-iron glass costs more but reads as noticeably higher quality in the finished product.
Rain glass has a subtle texture on one side that obscures the view into the shower while still letting light through. It is a popular choice for master bathrooms that are visible from the bedroom, or for shared bathrooms where privacy matters. It has a clean, modern look that pairs well with contemporary tile work.
Frosted glass provides more privacy than rain glass and comes in varying levels of opacity. It is common in bathrooms where the shower faces a door or window. Etched or sandblasted patterns are also available if you want something more custom.
On a frameless shower door, the hardware is minimal but it is visible. The hinges, handle, and any wall brackets need to match the other fixtures in the bathroom: the faucet, the showerhead, the towel bars, the drawer pulls. Getting the finish right ties the room together.

Tempering heats the glass and rapidly cools it, which makes it several times stronger than standard glass and causes it to break into small, blunt pieces rather than large shards if it ever does break.
Step 3: Hardware sourcing. We order the hinges, handle, and any wall channels in the finish you selected. On custom frameless work, we verify that all hardware is compatible with the glass thickness and door configuration before it ships.
